I am sorry, i don’t know Mac. I hear about this problem the first time now. And unfortunately i am as lost with Mac as you with Windows 
There should be no rule for hotkeys. They should work. But i know that unixoid systems have a problem with the alt key. That’s at least the case for Linux.
