First try failed. The patch cannot be applied. The patch seems to be from version 2.70 or so. Lots of stuff is named different meanwhile in 2.76. Means i had to do the apply patch work by hand. And in the end i had a handful lines of code where i have no idea where they should belong to. The compiling then stopped with above 100 errors. And so do i. This fish here is too big for me at the moment.

I will put this one on ice now. Let's have a look what the Blender devs are doing with 2.8.

Postponed until the port to 2.8 is done. I don't want to battle twice here.

The windows compile doesn't show the tab names. And i can see an odd shading over the toolbar.

Second try, this time i deleted everyting, ran Cmake from scratch. And got an even weirder result ...

And a third time from scratch, this time with Cuda, Alembic and Open Subdiv. The odd shadow is back. The tabs shows odd signs. And the regular menus are missing some items.

Recloned the repository. And again another result. This time the names shows as they should. But the menu still misses some items. Another overlooked thing is the background of the viewport is now monochrome. But should be a gradient.

Below how it should be.

The tab with X's and a + tab sign to work like a web browser for new layouts is.. a cool idea. I am also pro the numbered layout quick selecter with the hidden dropdown too.

Don't use the tab patch at all. Currently working on an own - more powerful - implementation for tabs.
