The defaults for the Cycles renderer could possibly be improved. See this thread: https://www.bforartists.de/content/firefly-rendering-tips-already-setup-...

Okay, let's go through the points of this article: https://www.blenderguru.com/articles/7-ways-get-rid-fireflies

1. Use Bigger Light Sources - No Cycles setting

2. Use Bigger Shadow Sizes - No Cycles setting

3. Use "Multiple Importance Sampling" for HDRs - Already ticked by default.

4. Use 'Filter Glossy' - Already ticked. But is at 1. This is no bad default. The user has to decide if he wants to blur. Not the developer.

5. Check "No Caustics" -

6. Use "Clamping" - is already in use by default.

7. More Samples - that's a user choice.

Not this much left for this taks. No caustics is the only thing that could be improved. And the standard settings does not have a default preset. So once you start to toy around you loose the default settings. Let's have a look if we can add a preset here.
